Doll house / Puppenhaus

Whenever I visit the old seaside resorts on the island of Usedom, I’m so happy about the beautiful old buildings. 

Every time I fall in love with another building, this time it was the carefully restored, pink ‘Villa Hintze’ in Heringsdorf with its gothic style windows, neo-classic balconies and little details all over the place … and although it looks like a true doll house, the huge rooftop terrace gives it a modern convenience (and undisturbed views of the Baltic Sea) as well.

Wann immer ich die alten Ostseebäder auf der Insel Usedom besuche, freue ich mich so über die wunderschönen, z.T. aufwendig restaurierten Häuser der ‚Bäderarchitektur‘. 

Jedes Mal finde ich das eine oder andere Gebäude besonders schön, dieses Mal war es die rosa ‚Villa Hintze‘ in Heringsdorf, mit ihren neogotischen Fenstern, klassischen Säulen, Balkonen und der Vielzahl an dekorativen Details. Und obwohl all das wie ein echtes Puppenhaus aussieht, so garantiert die große Dachterrasse auch moderne Ansprüche und einen unverstellten Blick auf die Ostsee.

Ich trug natürlich noch eine sehr, sehr warme Jacke, die ich jedoch für genau die Sekunden entfernte, die ich benötigte, um das Bild zu fotografieren ^^

Christmas Truck / Weihnachtstruck

As you could already see in my last post, this year I’m officially obsessed with Christmas tree farms and pickup trucks. So I ‘had’ to make a small sign with my favorite theme of the season. 

It’s painted on plywood with acrylics and a clear coating on top. Therefore it is supposedly weather proof as well, although I’m not sure if I want to try it out - but it could be a nice addition to a front porch decoration :)

Wie man bereits in meinem letzten Artikel sehen konnte, bin ich in diesem Jahr (zu) sehr begeistert, wann immer ich Pick Up Trucks beladen mit Weihnachtsbäumen sehe (und ich sehe sie auch plötzlich überall, z.B. in der P&C Werbung, als Baumanhänger in Depot, auf Kissen etc.). Als logische Folge entstand dieses kleine Holzschild. Ich habe es auf eine A4 Sperrholzplatte mit Acrylfarben gemalt und zum Abschluß klarlackiert. 

Deswegen sollte das Schildchen jetzt eigentlich wetterfest sein, doch ich weiß nicht, ob ich das auch ausprobieren möchte - aber in einem überdachten Bereich kann es problemlos draußen stehen :)

2014 war ein sehr gutes Weihnachtsbastel-Jahr… aber auch 2015 habe ich noch einige Ideen :)

Christmas decorations / Weihnachtsdekor zu Hause

I didn’t decorate a lot for Christmas in our home, but I already have the feeling: That’s it, anything else would be over the top. - Therefore my style for this year is reduced, with very little ornaments, but with red and green as the traditional colors. 

I just added lots of pillows for the couch - to cosy it up; the Ikea Christmas Tree fabric as a wall hanging and a lantern advent wreath for the table. … and I think that our Christmas tree (which we might buy this weekend) will be much smaller than in previous years as well :)

Ich habe zu Hause bisher nur sehr wenig zu Weihnachten geschmückt und doch habe ich schon das Gefühl, das reicht - alles andere wäre zu viel des Guten. - Von daher ist mein Stil in diesem Jahr sehr reduziert, mit wenigen Ornamenten, aber dennoch in den typischen rot-grün Farben. 

Ich habe jedoch sehr viel mehr Kissen auf dem Sofa verteilt, befestigte dahinter den Ikea Weihnachtsbaum-Stoff als Wandbild und auf den Tisch kam der katzensichere Laternen-Adventskranz… und ich denke, daß unser Weihnachtsbaum (den wir möglicherweise morgen kaufen werden) auch sehr viel kleiner ausfallen wird als in früheren Jahren :) 

Natural / Natürlich

I love to find beauty in nature like these small apples and acorn cupules (yes, I had to google that one.) 

It’s so easy to decorate with what is already there - you just have to realize how effortlessly beautiful nature can be :)

Ich entdecke gerne die Schönheit und Strukturen in der Natur, wie z.B. hier mit diesen kleinen Äpfeln und den Fruchtbechern (die heißen wirklich so) der Eiche. 

Es ist einfach mit Dingen zu dekorieren, die ohnehin schon da sind - man muss sie nur auch als Deko erkennen :) 

Simple Halloween decorating / Einfache Halloween Deko

You don’t want to spend money on plastic Halloween decorations? How about a little bit of black and white acrylics paint (plus a clear varnish) and you are good to go? 

 Du möchtest kein Geld für kitschige Plastik-Halloween Deko ausgeben? Wie wäre es stattdessen mit etwas schwarzer und weißer Acrylfarbe (plus Klarlack) und fertig? 

I painted two tiny, ornamental pumpkins (1€) and four cobble stones (free - laying in the garden) for Halloween, added a couple more pumpkins for good measure and there you go … our outdoor entrance table is all dressed up for the joyful season.  

Ich bemalte zwei kleine Zierkürbisse (1€), sowie vier Pflastersteinchen (die eh bei mir herumlagen), stellte noch ein paar Kürbisse dazu - die nach und nach in der Küche verarbeitet werden - und schon ist unser Tisch vor der Haustür perfekt auf die Saison eingestimmt :) 

Early autumn in the woods / Herbst im Wald

Recently my husband and I wanted to make ‘couple photos’ in the woods and therefore we chose our matching flannel shirts and hoped for a lot of colorful leaves. Unfortunately most leaves were still green - but it was a nice and sunny day, so we didn’t mind it too much.

Vor kurzem wollten mein Mann und ich einige ‘Paarbilder’ von uns fotografieren und trugen deswegen passende Flanell Hemden zum Besuch im Stadtwald. Wir hofften sehr auf bunte Herbstblätter, doch im Wald war fast alles noch grün. Aber es war ein warmer, sonniger Tag - also dennoch wunderschön. 

Most couples that I know of always seem to strike a rather effortless pose - something we never managed to do. Even on this day, a lot of our pictures were rather awkward than flawless, but at least we did have fun making them (while dealing with some rather inquisitive kids ^^)
And maybe when we repeat this experience from time to time, we are going to get better at it eventually :)

Die meisten Paare, die ich kenne, scheinen fast automatisch zu wissen, wie perfekte Paarbilder entstehen - das haben wir so nie hinbekommen. Selbst an diesem Tag, waren unsere Bilder häufig ungeschickt und ungelenk, aber wir hatten durchaus unseren Spaß (natürlich auch mit den Kindern, die vorbeikamen um sich ganz genau anzusehen, was wir da machen ^^) Wenn wir solche Fotos von Zeit zu Zeit wiederholen, wird es vielleicht irgendwann einfacher :) 

After that we went - for the first time - to the restaurant right in the middle of the woods. I always thought of it as some sort of expensive tourist trap, and although I was right about the expensive part, the food was really good. The place might not become our regular go -to place, but for once in a while, it might be the perfect treat.

Danach gingen wir zum ersten Mal in das Restaurant mitten im Wald. Bisher hatte ich es immer nur als wahrscheinlich zu teure Touristenfalle abgetan - und ich hatte recht mit dem ‚ zu teuer‘, aber das Essen war großartig. Das wird jetzt sicher nicht unser Stammlokal, aber hin - und wieder kann man sich das bestimmt einmal gönnen.
