Potsdam in the Pre-Christmas season / Potsdam in der Vorweihnachtszeit

While being in Potsdam, Germany recently, I enjoyed the beginning of the festive season.

It was a grey and rainy day, but the candles, which were standing in front of many shops and the sparkle of an early Christmas exhibition were creating a magical atmosphere. 

I really liked visiting Potsdam (a 15 minutes ride with S-Bahn or train away from Berlin) after three years, although it was a dark November day. The town is def. developing quite nicely and new interesting shops are not just popping up in the major downtown areas, but even hidden in small streets or courts everywhere around. And did I mention that there opened a small cozy, perfect café just next to the street, where I was living for many years, a café I would have loved going to … When there would be a list, of places I once lived in and would like to live again, then Potsdam would easily make it on top of it, followed by Ottawa … :)

Während ich vor kurzem in Potsdam, Brandenburg unterwegs war, konnte ich die Vorbereitungen zur Weihnachtszeit begutachten. Es war ein grauer, regnerischer Tag, aber die vielen Kerzen, die vor zahlreichen Geschäften standen und das Glitzern einer frühen Weihnachtsausstellung, kreierten eine weltferne, magische Atmosphäre, in der der Regen Teil des Schauspiels war.

Ich besuchte Potsdam sehr gerne (15 Minuten per S-Bahn oder RE von Berlin entfernt) denn es war das erste Mal in drei Jahren, daß ich diese Möglichkeit hatte. Die Stadt entwickelt sich sehr gut und neue interessante Läden öffnen nicht nur in der Fußgängerpassage, sondern auch in kleinen Nebenstraßen und Hinterhöfen. Und habe ich schon das neueröffnete kleine, gemütliche Café erwähnt, das sich nun nicht weit von meiner ehemaligen Wohnung in der Brandenburger Vorstadt befindet? Ich wäre wohl Stammgast geworden.... wenn es eine Liste gäbe, von allen Orten an denen ich bereits einmal gelebt habe und wieder wohnen wollen würde, so wäre Potsdam ganz sicher auf Platz 1, dicht gefolgt von Ottawa, ON..... :)
