When I was in Germany two years ago, my mum gave me a nearly complete box of old GDR darning cotton.
I forgot it at that time, but yesterday I found it in my sewing box… now the darning cotton box is going to come home with me to VT.

Als ich vor zwei Jahren in Deutschland war, gab mir meine Mutter eine fast komplette DDR Sticktwist Schachtel, die ich daraufhin vergaß mitzunehmen. Doch gestern habe ich sie in meinem alten Nähkasten wiedergefunden und dieses Mal kommt die Schachtel mit zurück nach Vermont.
Ich bin mir nicht sicher ob ich damit je etwas stopfen werde, doch das vordere Bild macht einfach gute Laune :)
Macht es auch, musste auch grinsen! Kommst Du bald wieder? Der Indian Summer ist hier in NB in vollem Gange. Bald taeglich andere Farbwechsel, wunderschoen.

DeleteKann überhaupt noch wer stopfen? Ich so richtig nicht... Und: oft lasse ich Loch im Strumpf einfach Loch sein, es hat auch seine Berechtigung, hihi.... Bei uns in Deutschland verfärben sich die Bäume auch sehr schön zur Zeit. Besonders der Essigbaum leuchtet wie doll. Schönen Gruss von Cosmee
ReplyDeleteIch kann noch stopfen, aber zumeist mache ich es nicht mehr... viele Socken sind es auch nicht wert, oder das Material so mürbe, daß es gleich woanders Löcher 'baut'
DeleteI don't want to get butt-sewed, would rather prefer to remove the pants and give it to you :-p. Come home without that cover (box) or with a new one :-). It's time for change and men should raise their voice against such acts :D.
ReplyDeletewell, it isn't about butt sewing, it is about sewing with a thick cotton thread any knitted fabric in a way, that the hole is nearly not visible anymore... a lost art, since most pullovers/socks with holes are simply getting thrown away :)
